Just an FYI... The Spyderco "budget" range e.g. Tenacious, Persistence etc are all made in the same Chinese factory as the Byrd range.

I've had my Tenacious for 7 years and still one of my favourite EDC blades. Perfect size for daily chores and cuts like an absolute dream

Steel Will Cutjack (or the Modus, or the Intrigue). D2 blades, FRN handles. These have completely replaced the Delica in my mind.

The Delica is a classic, but Spyderco no longer offers any value for money, as far as I'm concerned.

The Ontario RAT 1 or RAT 2 (depending on size preference) in D2. Another classic.

There's also the Kizer Vanguard line. Tons of good designs at around R1000. They use G10 for the handles and VG10 for the blades (same as the Delica and Endura, but without the soft Spyderco heat treatment).

The Spyderco Tenacious is a great design. I just wish they would move away from 8Cr13MoV.

Real Steel have also stepped up their game. Good prices and they use a lot of Sandvik steel like 14C28N. Great value for money.

There's also the Ruike P801. Again, 14C28N. Excellent value for money.
