Here is the final product..I completed the lid, I will insert it into the horn and secure it with Mosaic pins...I still need to make a decorated plug for the lid..then I need to commence working on the spout of the horn...

A few nice photos of Johan Greyling shooting one of his front loading black powder canons with his own made black powder:

    Great photos Gert!
That is your standard Voortrekker canon; a short-barreled grapeshot ships-canon mounted on an ox-wagon rear axle!

Made some progress on the black powder horn...I got hold of great tanned leather that I will cut into strips to carry the powder horn over my shoulder ...there still needs to be done a lot of work but I am getting there...

I had to spend some time in thinking about what I want to make for a powder dispenser/measuring tool that will fit onto the powder horn, I think I know how I want to make one that will work for me... will be doing /working on the dispenser this week as well..

Thank you Richard...I completed my Vellies, so now I can turn all my attention to completing the powder horn...
Sometimes it takes longer than I planned to complete a project. But on the end I usually get the job done...after the Black powder hunt I will turn all my attention to building the 8x68S rifle and probably finish it before December..I need to hunt the Kalahari next year June/July holidays..my hunting trip is already booked...it really is something I am looking forward tremendously ...I will be visiting /doing farm work, making /forging knives and making leather vellies assisting the owner of the farm in Aranos..it really is going to be a great, great experience....
