    Correct, but I prefer scaring /making fine dents into the surface for better bonding. Have been doing it since a young boy /high school learner in woodwork shop, we work only with Tambotie, Kiaat , Imbuia and Black-wood...Another great feature of Tambotie is when you scrape it down with a piece of sharp broken glass you really get a high gloss finish instead of using sanding paper.

    Looking at this video I am trying to work out how this person is going to fill-up his powder horn since he plug the bottom with a solid piece of wood????

    If so , the owner of that horn has a lot of time on his hands ..it will take tree days to fill that horn with black powder through the spout...

    Going through all that effort to make something unusable to look pretty is something I have not think off ...like making a knife without a cutting edge and frame it as a wall hanger ...

    Good, I spend some time today to work on the lid of the powder horn. This is the filling work I have done so far..still some work left but I will get there..
