Re: Trisol...huh??
Bit off both.
I use trisol on oiled wood stocks. It polishes them up to a mirror shine.
But better stuff on market for steel work on my firearms.

Re: Trisol...huh??
Have found it leaves a nasty sticky substance if you have used too much, not my favorite.

Re: Trisol...huh??
Haha, I also only have it for the smell really.
In its defence though, it is absolutely the only lube I have ever known my old man to use on his BHP all the years, and it has kept the pistol in great shape. So it can't be all bad ;)

Re: Trisol...huh??
used to use trisol,
changed after i was advised to clean as per normal
then clean again using ballistol, as enough dirty residue left for me to justify the change to ballistol
ballistol on handguns
lithium grease on the pig ak

Re: Trisol...huh??
I use it to clean and that's it.
I wouldn't use it to lube or to protect. As lube it's way to viscous and as a protective agent I find it doesn't last long at all.

Re: Trisol...huh??
I confess to only giving my Block Trisol for the last twenty years, but I clean after almost every shoot, so +-200-300 rounds apart. It works for relatively low round count people like me. But there are apparently better out there. Gun still goes bang though and hasn't worn any more than others of the same age? A subjective opinion, I realise. I spray through the barrel first and let it sit while I clean the rest. By the time I clean the barrel, the lead comes out relatively easily (yes, I shoot lead out my Glock, hence the cleaning).
My 2c, but as I said, I've used it for a long time. I use very little on the Glock though, no sticky residue mentioned above. The Glocks finish, and hard wearing surfaces are probably very forgiving of average lube though.
