Default Bolsonaro wins Brazilian Presidential election

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-46013408

This is relevant for us (given that Brazil and South Africa are so similar and both are members of BRICS), because Bolsonaro won in part due to his strong anti-crime and anti-corruption platform, and his support for relaxing restrictions on gun ownership (Brazil has very tough gun laws which have failed dismally in curbing violent crime) and the right of law enforcement to defend themselves (which is why a lot of police and soldiers voted for him).

It's interesting how the media portrayed him as an extremist and a dictator wannabe because of his policies and some of the more offensive things he said in the past, and even some celebrities got in on bashing him. However, the people of Brazil decided he was the lesser of two evils as compared to the Worker's Party's failed socialist policies and rampant corruption.

How would a candidate with his policies fare in South Africa? (I'm not talking about his support for torture and offensive comments of course, which are unacceptable)

Socialism has failed all over, but sadly people in SA still love it, believe their socialism will be fail proof. The sooner South Africa departs from their love of red shirts and communist idols the sooner we can have a decent country.

Our country will wisen up to the fact that socialism is crap and does not work either in theory or practice eventually. If Brazil can do that, so can we.

We might wise up, but they (our socialists) haven't run out of other peoples money yet, and they still see lots of easily stolen fruit hanging on the tree.
