    Default Competency Refusal?

A friends application for his competency was refused.
Reason: invalid statement of results attached
He has the certificate & statement from the institute he completed his course at. The only problem i picked up is that the dates of completion on his certificate does not match that of the statement.
    1. Is it the institutes fault for this?
    2. Can he do an appeal if the institute corrects this?

The statement of results should be from PFTC. If it isn't, the training provider is at fault. You friend might have been taken for a ride?

Has your friend checked his SoR on the PFTC website? http://pftcdms.co.za/search/

    & search.pftc.co.za.

He should also check if his training provider is still accredited with PFTC.

The provider does not have to be currently accredited, only at time of issue.

I think this will still be of value to someone, as this thread helped me.
I had the same issue with my wife's application for further competency.

I followed the link below and checked her Statement of Results. Niks, nada.
Then I checked mine. On my latest Statement of Results, for which I already received SAPS further competency. Niks, nada.

Mmm... I knew the provider, certificates and results were valid.
So, I contacted the PFTC on the telephone number on the certificates. The lady was friendly and asked me to mail her the Statements of Results. I also included screenshots of the searches.

    She replied two hours later:
    "
    Good Morning,

We have had a technical issue but has been fixed. You can now validate your PFTC Statement of Results on the PFTC Website www.pftc.co.za

    Kind regards,"

And now I get the results when doing a search.

I contacted the registrar on the call centre number. Ai-ja-jai
    They only provide generic answers.
But, the generic answer is that there are many false or fraudulent Statements of Results out there. Which I doubt is the case.
The answer in my opinion is simple: When they searched the database, it could not be found because of the above error. And not being able to validate the results, they declared the results invalid.

On question 2, I still do not have an answer.

A friend's BIL applied for further competency (SLR) and recently was refused his application.

Reason: You failed to mention a previous conviction.

Obviously he was dumb struck as he never committed any 'felony'.

It turned out to be a speeding fine in Piet Retief almost 8 years ago where a summonsed was issued.

    Bummer...

    Good Morning...
Update on this (i know im very late) we found out the instructor left the institute & headed a career in a different field.
His "instructor number" was deactivated hence the problem which we encountered..
After calling PFTC, they sorted the issue out & my friend was allowed to appeal with this being the reason.
