How many mags do you take on holiday?

Is it legal to leave your firearm with a trusted person/family member on the beach while you go swimming 25 meters away whilst keeping an eye on things ? Or is that not under supervision/in your control ?

I'd personally be ok with leaving my gun with a friend/ family member on the beach in this situation, if that person had a competency certificate i.e. that person was capable and fit and proper to handle a gun and unlikely to do anything stupid.

Dude I grew up in KZN, the Indian ocean isn't the vaal dam.

Me too, though I never swam in areas that a tiny backpack designed for active use would have killed me. I also climb, run and have kayaked with it.

Leaving it at home for a whole trip instead of just swimming in calmer/safer waters is an odd weigh up of risks to me
