All actions are one size AFAIK. The main differences come in barrel config (length, diam, sights, barrel band?) and the stocks.

The actions are known for their strength and are built like tanks.

I looked for one in 223 for many years. By chance I went to VLT and they told me of one that had just been sold, but the owner had become incapacitated due to a serious stroke. I then negotiated with his son and bought the 30-06 as new. With its 22 inch barrel I hunt with monos (Barnes 150gr) and it is the best bushveldt rifle I have ever used. The barrel tip is below your shoulder with a correctly adjusted strap and there is hardly any more barrel hook-ups with branches. Handles very quick and recoil is not a factor with the lighter bullets.

My friend was looking for a 45/70 GOVT, and I am still looking for a Ruger No1. Got him a pristine Ruger no1 in 45/70... I really wanted the gun. So I convinced him to buy it, more of a steal... glad he did... I’m a good friend or just stupid.

Definitely both. Are you looking for more friends? I can do with friends like you.

Haha natuurlik, well it made him happy, and he couldn’t find a decent 45/70 for years... just dumb luck that one popped up in a Ruger No1 and I came across it, with a Leopold scope I might add... and he is one of my hunting buddies, so I will at least get to shoot it a few times. Still on the lookout for my Ruger No1.
