    Default Eland - Relative size.

Just to give an idea of size. A mature, but not very old, eland bull compared to a fully grown gemsbok cow.

She's probably going to be a little bruised afterwards...

That's a great shot. I dont see a lot of Eland in the flesh so it always astounds me how big they really are. This picture sums it up nicely. Keep sharing. the shots of the terrain are making me excited as I am heading up to just between Colesberg and Norvalspont in 2 weeks.

I've seen photos of a a Kuland or Koeland I think they called it, being a cross between a kudu and an Eland.....I wonder if there has ever been a cross between a Gemsbok and an Eland? And if that cross was a bull...I can only imagine the horns on that bad boy. Imagine horns the length of a gemsbok, but with the thickness of an Elands with a body size somewhere in between!

Plus, she is closer to the camera than the eland so, relative to the eland, she would appear slightly bigger than she actually is.

Kudu and eland are of the same genus, tragelaphus, while gemsbok is genus oryx. Eland and gemsbok would not be able to cross.
