kayc pretty much got it right - VX-2 glass and pretty much everything else is VX-1.

I consider VX-Freedom glass to be a definite step above ProStaff and Diamondback glass, especially in low light.

Good info. I've never needed my ProStaffs in anything other than good light.

Does the VX-Freedom have an etched reticle?

From what I understand the VX Freedoms have replaced the previous range , personally i prefer the range of VX3 scopes , i am although a Leupold fan and all my rifles wear different Leupold scopes.

My rifles wear the best glass I can afford, most of my scopes are Leupold and Meopta with one Zeiss. I’d like to own a couple of Leica’s but can’t afford them. Like Rigby I have an affinity for the VX-3. I’ve got a 1.75-6x32 with a custom shop installed German #4 reticle on my Marlin 336. To me it is the perfect pairing of a scope and rifle. I also believe the 2.5-8x36 is a great scope.
