    Any one have any stones they wanna get rid of. Not the rough stuff from hardwares, the decent ones. Please send a PM. Edenvale area.

    With the price of whetstones i don't think you will be that lucky, not for anything decent anyway.

    I just paid R674 for one with 25% discount

    Those you find secondhand will probably have had their time.

    I have bought one or two "good enough" stones from regular hardware stores. I also bought some handy scrap @ R6 each a few years ago. Them I use for the abusive work.

    I had 2 Global stones, but sold a while ago. Kick myself every day
    I'm talking about buying stones. Maybe someone bought and not into sharpening

    Try eBay. There are often good deals on synthetic and natural stones from Japan.

    I saw a set for a few hundred dollars.

    While on wetstones does anybody have best method of using one.

    Also ive seen many adapted boxes to have stone sit in it with water or oil to help. Any advice or pics on these

    Oh man, I'm just subscribing here. I used to have an el-cheapo whetstone many years ago when I was still a kid. Managed to get my mother's kitchen knives so sharp, she asked me to remove the edge on most of them as she kept cutting herself. Really want another whetstone...
