I saw one for 8000. For that price, you could get a CZ P07, or a glock 19 gen 3 or gen 4 on a good sale. For the missus, you could get a glock 26 for that price.
I suspect the taurus will get the job done, but at the same price of bigger names, I would be hesitant to take the taurus.

But i agree with support, last thing you want is your gun to break a small part and the local agents are Kak and you can't get it sorted.

I understand money can also be a factor, just like people saying you shouldn't trust your life with a cheap gun, if that's the money you have, that's unfortunately a deciding factor if it means buying a big name gun means you can't eat for the next month,

CZ or Glock would be my choice. Spares and accessories availability for Glock and CZ is very good. Both brands also have a proven track record locally for excellence. The current model Glocks are a fair bit more expensive than the Taurus but you don't have to buy a Gen 5, an older model will serve you well. G26 Gen 3's can be had for about R7800 and the G19 Gen 3 can be had for roughly the same price. CZ P-07 can be had for roughly that and slightly less on some specials. If my budget didn't allow for a new Glock or CZ I would save a bit more or buy second hand. I would rather have a second hand Glock/CZ than a new Taurus.

Still wouldn't be a good buy imho.

The Glock 19 gen 3 is about just over 1k more than that and is definitely a better option.

Just my 2 cents.

For a few cents more you can buy a Girsan MC28 that is a much better pistol and has local after sales support.

If you have R5,5k to gamble away, go to a casino. At least they don't make you wait for a license...
