Competency re-application.

Hi guys and girls. I wish you all a great and prosperous New Year.

My license for my S15 .22 rifle expires end of August this year. Now I know I must re-apply 90+ days before expiry date. But when should I renew my competency? Must I get a new competency approved even before I renew my license? Or can I do both at the same time as long it it 90+ days before expiry of both?
The last time I applied for a license my DFO printed it out and it had no dates. I wonder if it will still be the case if I ask them for a reprint that it will print with no date. In such a case I will then only have to renew the rifles licence and not renew my competency? My only other firearms are handguns if that matters.

As far as I am aware, both at the same time.

Correct, they get renewed on the same day.
