Imagine how swiftly our applications will go when the entire system is shut down.

'SAPS doesn't have criteria for a successful gun licence application'

Have you applied for a firearm licence and got declined?

Do you know what the criteria are for you to get an approval for the licence?

John Maytham speaks to South African Gun Owners Association spokesperson and legal advisor Martin Hood on why there are no criteria for firearm applications.

The SAPS are not fair in two respects when it comes to accessing applications.
    — Martin Hood, Spokesperson and legal advisor - South African Gun Owners Association

They don't have a policy or list of criteria that needs to be applied to meet a successful application.
    — Martin Hood, Spokesperson and legal advisor - South African Gun Owners Association

They apply criteria or requirements that are not contained in the Firearms Control Act.

There appears to be a shift in media attention to the plight of gun owners

So SAGA/Hood is saying that even if they came up with a list of requirements, saps should still have the discretion to turn you down even though you comply? ("obviously we are not advocating that every license app should be granted")

    Fudd-like that!

I spotted that as well. Kinda makes the whole court case that he is pursuing pointless.
