Some Advice please! Value of M&P 40

I have a friend looking to sell her Smith and Wesson M&P40

Caliber: 40S&W

It has less than 100 rounds through it, comes with all accessories etc.

What is this worth?

Is it the gen 1 or gen 2?
I would say around R8000 is a fair price to pay

I agree with that estimate, it may actually be a tad high... You can buy a brand new, 9mm glock for about R1000 more. Cheaper ammo/reload and easily and relatively cheap upgradable trigger. I also have a M&P (PRO, 5'' in 40S&W) and I wouldn't trade it for anything, so don't get me wrong, I love it! But, it came with two extra mags and a complete Apex trigger already fitted. I paid R10000 for the package. It was indeed a great price as they sell for R15000 new and the extras alone are worth R7000. Great guns, great ergonomics but not so awesome standard trigger and not the most desirable caliber.

The M&P is also new with 100 shots through it, it seems.

I don't have to tell you what a new one would cost and secondly what a new Glock costs, in fact I don't know why the Glock was even mentioned here.

I cannot agree that a M&P 40 with a hundred shots through it could be worth 8K!!

Start at looking what it cost new and work from there.

I cant sell my Mp40 VTAC with 5 Mags and Apex trigger kit for R10k.

Unfortunatly just the way it is. All depends on what someone is willing to pay and how long you willing for it to take to sell.

Nope, you don't have to tell me, I know. You want a different brand, OK... You can buy a brand new P07 in 9mm for that price. I love the M&P series as I have mentioned but they are overpriced in my opinion so I don't believe that the going rate is a good starting point. Look at how many M&P are up for sale now on GS, how many have sold? That should be your starting point. I believe the M&P is underrated but overpriced and plagued by a bad trigger which they have luckily fixed in Gen 2. Also, it's a 40S&W, most people prefer to stick to or start with a 9mm.

O yes, and 100 shots or 5 shots, it's not the same as new...

That is very unfortunate Edwill... A friend of mine bought a M&P 9 here on GS about ayear ago for R7500, including and extra magazine. It was also practically new.

I just checked again, the M&P I mentioned was only sold after two months and after the price was dropped to R7500. My friend ended up paying R7500 for it, extra mag included.
