Default Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 Speedloaders

    Good day

A friend of mine has acquired above mentioned revolver. His intention is to use it in IDPA. Speedloaders *HKS* are too fat or i.o.w the grip interferes.

    Any advice please.

    Regards

Try the Safariland Comp III's. I use them in a S&W 66 with Hogue grips. It's a little tight if I get my placement wrong, but nothing that a little rubber grip trimming won't fix.

I echo what DUX said - but be sure to get the Comp IIIs and not the Comp IIs - there really is a world of difference between the two models.

Does he have the standard wooden grips?

I once saw a revolver online with the troublesome part of the grip filed / sanded away.

My Taurus 606 is a clone (or close copy?) of the S&W Mod 19 and has a thinner rubber grip. The HKS #10 worked well enough with a little practice.

    Thanks or the replies guys.

Yes Ds J, standard wooden grips. Which he chooses not to butcher.

Maybe rubber grips can be an answer to his problem if he would consider changing grips. It would enable him to use the HKS speedloaders as well as Safariland CIII's. The factory grips on the S&W Mod 19 looks good but I prefer shooting with rubber grips.

If memory serves me, Pachmayr's presentation grips give good clearance with the HKS # 10 's and are pleasant to shoot with.
