.22 silencer and unburned powder
Hi guys.
When I shoot with my silencer on my .22 bolt action rifle I get a insane amount unburned powder coming back through the breech. This in turns causes the bolt to become sticky as it probably mixes with the oil.
Is this just a fact of life with a silencer or is the silencer a piece of junk? I inherited the rifle with it on.
TIA.

Clean your bolt with thinners or acetone and then lube it with graphite. Should help with the soot and oil mixing to form a grease.

Re: .22 silencer and unburned powder
I havent seen this on my 22lr rifle.
Have fitted a silencer on Ruger Mark IV pistol in December.
Also havent noticed on it.
They say a 22lr burns up its powder in the first 16" of barrel.
So if your barrel is longer then this. Then fitting a silencer should not make any difference. As the powder is long burnt up before it reached the silencer I would think.

I get the same. 18 inch barrel. Depends on the ammo type. Silencer is a Bushmans.
