    Default Firearm Import

    Hello Guys,

I know that this has been discussed on occasion and I have tried to read all the posts relating the importing of firearms, but I have not found a post that resembles what I am wanting to do.

MasterPieceArms have a rifle that I am interested in, and have not to date found anyone that has brought one in or is willing to bring it in for me. I have tried Dave Shear, (which abruptly and quite rudely I might add told me off, Camdix in Krugersdorp also not interested and S&O might be able to do this.)

I am quite happy to purchase from someone in SA if they do import these rifles.

the rifle i am interested in is the following:

https://masterpiecearms.com/shop/mpa...rban-tactical/ . (Me thinks this will be a nice bush rifle in .308)

    The alternatives are
    https://mdttac.com/ess-chassis-system.html with a Howa 1500 barrel.

the nice think about the MPA is the integration of the silencer in the butt stock as well as the fact that you can order this with a 1/8 twist.

Weight is also a question but this is personal to each i guess.

Silencer export from the US for civilian use is pretty much a no go.

For what that is going to cost you, you could build some very nice bush rifle'S.

You are obviously aware this is going to cost you a lot more than the US Dollar price times the exchange rate?

There are several things to keep in mind:

    - it takes some paperwork to import a firearm
    - gun shops sometimes import a firearm, and then are stuck with it because the client decides to buy something else

Keep on trying - you will find someone who is willing to do it.

It will come at a price.

    EDIT:

If you want a bush rifle you should be able to order a rifle to your own tastes and whims at a local gunsmith at less than $3025 + transport + import tax + profit + effort + time.

If you just want the chassis it should be slightly easier.

Try Bellum Arcus in Sandown, JHB. They're specialist importers.

get the Howa + MDT ESS.....both available locally.
but if you really want the MPA, it can be done...but you will pay.
have mates privately imported custom rifles. using a FA export agent in the US and obtained perm import permit this side.....etc
    it's a R150k exercise for a custom rifle and 2-3 spare barrels.

I have the MDT HS3 Chasis on my 308 Rem VSSF. I would rather go the route of MDT chasis. Its an incredibly well made Chasis.

And there is currently a local MDT importer. Wolvtech if I am not mistaken.

    And get a Ase Sl5.

Get the MDT and a good base rifle and built it up.
    But note it gets expensive.

The barrel on that Urban model is way to short.
If you going to use on range.
