Default CAPE TOWN CBD HOME AFFAIRS - OK TO CARRY?

Does anybody know whether it will be possible to walk in to CT CBD Home Affairs with my concealed carry pistol?

You got to ask yourself if you want to take the chance. Currently DHA offices across the country are plagued by excessively long lines outside. If you want to risk standing in one for 4 hours only to get told at the front that you can't come in with a gun then that's your choice.

    Absolutely.

So I arrived there at 05h45 today, sans EDC, only to discover unmissable signs in the windows, saying "Closed Saturdays".

Will need to take time off work.

I've been in there while carrying (and other Home Affairs offices too). I think it's a bit hit-and-miss as whether you'll be checked or not, sometimes there's somebody checking and sometimes not. I went to the HA office in a town near Cape Town last year and there was nobody checking when I arrived, but he pitched up when I was already inside and started checking the new people coming in. I chatted to him as I went out to go to the toilet to make sure he would remember me and when I came back again he just waved me through without checking.

I haven't found the queues too bad at CT CBD Home Affairs. If it was me, I would go around 10h00, by which time the queue of people that arrived early in order to miss the queue should have dissipated.

Well the first part of this year when I drove past the Bellville one there was people standing for at least 100m outside. Everyday Not sure if its always this way in January.

But good luck standing in a line.

Some feedback from the Barrack Street CBD branch of DHA:

There was no security of any visible kind when I entered the building at 08h00, nor anything at 10h15 when I walked out.

I could have walked in with my RPG.
