    Question Cartridge Dimensions database

Does anyone know of a detailed comprehensive database containing all the dimensions of most known cartridges ?

    Similar to this

    BASE DE DATOS DE CARTUCHERÍA

    http://www.municion.org/software/programa.htm

but in English ( please )

Really looking for something that is searchable across all the different case dimensions as well as things like case capacities. ( an RDBS )

So say I wanted to know all cartridges that had a neck dimension of 10mm -- or -- greater than 8mm the program would bring up a list of these which could then be individually examined
With a diagram ( CIP or SAAMI ) with a good clear image.

QuickLoad / QuickDesign does have a DB of a number of cartridges but it does not appear to be searchable -- as in the example above ? ( or perhaps I have not found that function ? )

There are a number of books ( flat / two dimensional ) that have much of this information -- however they are obviously not searchable as in the above manner.

Anyone know of something like this -- in English ....?

    Google

Serious though, this is at least a start:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...fle_cartridges

From there I used the Saami specs database to search for specific details:

Do you want the cartridge dimensions or the chamber dimensions?

I know of no such resource, the closest would be the SAAMI website.

My copy of Cartridges of the World by by Barnes (11th Edition) is sort-of searchable by cartridge dimension. It has a section listing all cartridges in order of bullet diameter that also gives all the other dimensions and details such as whether it is rimmed/rimless, bottleneck, straight walled etc. If you start with the bullet diameter you can narrow down a specific cartridge quite quickly. Unfortunately it's not really feasible to eg start with all cartridges of a specific length.

Once narrowed down to a few names, one can refer to the main section where there is a picture and/or drawing of the cartridge as well as a description of history, SAAAMI pressures etc.

If you tell us exactly what your end goal is, and whether this is a once-off search or an ongoing thing, maybe we can help?

    Lightbulb Re: Cartridge Dimensions database

    Morning ,
    Thanks for the suggestions

I do have a copy of Barnes as well as a couple of reloading manuals
My interest is however a little deeper than just reloading

    To answer the question

    https://www.ammoland.com/2011/08/thi...at-cartridges/

The "genealogy" of Cartridges -- how they started off / who made them / what happened to them ( what is De novo ? )

    Start here

    http://kwk.us/cases.html

A number of the more specialised books are mentioned by name.

As to Google -- sometimes she keeps her secrets close ( depends on the key words you use )

    https://loaddata.com/

HOWEVER this is not what I am looking for

I mentioned a proper searchable RDBMS ( Relational Database Management System )
There are a number of free ( MS SQL Server demo version ) opensource MySQL and similar applications that can do this
In the 21st century we need to let the machines do the work for us -- think the difference between a paperback and a Kindle
This is an exponential step up in terms of usability

It just needs someone to develop the application and input all the data -- not rocket science but a lot of work.
Which is why I mentioned QuickLoad / QuickDesign as a lot of the work has already been done -- all the data just needs to be properly formatted and input into a suitable RDBMS

Did anyone actually look at the Spanish website I linked ?

Our friend and collector ANSUREZ, decided to create a database to organize your collection of cartuchería.

Little by little it has been polishing it, adding the ability to print the collector's book - in the arms intervention of Barcelona
they have confirmed to me that they should accept it in all the interventions of Spain - the control of the boxes of cartridges, lists of sizes, cartridges, display of photos of markings, boxes, cartridges ...

Now he has decided to make this program available to the members of the AECC and collectors of cartuchería in general. You just have to download this program, the instructions, and start using it.

It does not pretend to compete with the payment programs that are in the market. This has the minimum that a collector needs, dispensing with many of the benefits of these.

It is created with Microsoft Access®, so it is essential to have this database installed on your computer (If you have MS Office, you probably already have it installed).

Please note -- he is using MS Access

    Chamber Prints

Dave Kiff Pacific Tool and Gauge

    http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/dvds-...er-prints.html

There are a number of other places where similar could be found

As I mentioned all the data is there -- the time work and effort to collate it all

    I use Google as above.
Then the rest of the time I load my cases and go shoot. The rest of research takes too much of my shooting and reloading time.

    Tip:
Never mix your cases. And size, anneal and load in lots. Consistency makes for better accuracy.

    Thanks
Unfortunately I am not one of those that can reload and shoot all day
I like the research and history -- what I had in mind is really a universal tool
For anyone interested in the very many metallic cartridges -- what they look like , what their dimensions are -- and so much more
