Andrew, I uploaded this video , knowing you will enjoy it very much,,,
Here is the USA perspective on calibers not conducive to hunting at long range distances up to 600 meters..just for you Andrew.. I like his description of the "little 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge"

Another video on minimum energy of a bullet from a USA perspective..

These days you can download the free version of Strelok onto a bottom-of-the-range smartphone or tablet and get all the basic trajectory calculations done almost instantly and on the go.

Sorry if that does not fit well into your classic rifle picture.

Little 6.5 cartridge... For every old classic cartridge there is a newer cartridge that can compete, it's a never-ending cycle.. You should see this grey bearded man talk about the new 300 PRC cartridge...

Ya I’ve decided to go 300WM for now. 2 reasons:
    1- I couldn’t find what I wanted in 300H&H
2- the 300WM rifle will do the job for me just fine at a decent price too

I wanted a rifle with nostalgia and “class” and now I’m looking to get a black plastic stocked bull barreled beast. It’ll be my first no frills working gun. All my other hunting rifles (375H&H, 308win & 303) all have a bit of emotion behind them.

I must say it’s a bit of a funny feeling.

Yeah and if you pay R80 (if I remember correctly), it gives you an immense amount of extra scopes to choose from, allows you to see the projected impact with wind included and at different zoom settings (if SFP), etc. I'm definitely buying that as soon as my rifle comes in.

If you're going for a paid version, just go all the way and get Strelok Pro. Adds G7 BCs, stability calcs, more options with targets (i.e. specifying sizes of circles and squares) etc.

I was wondering if it's worth it and it seems like it is, thanks man!

I use both the basic free version and Pro. Both have their uses. For basic hunting needs the free version is plenty usefull. As ranges extend, all the extra features of the Pro version become handy. I like the baboon target the most...

The license for the 300WM was approved last week, awesome sauce! Now to scope it and develop a load. My goal is to get it Gemsbuck ready.
