In my experience, no. Unless you hunt at ranges exceeding 400m.

I shoot the 150gr Sierra Prohunter in my 308. It is unbelievably accurate and performs vey well on game. It rivals and beats the Legendry Sierra 155gr Matckings at short to medium distances. I cannot speak highly enough of this bullet.

I will be killed for what I have to say...yet.
I believe with the slower velocity and shorter barrel the answer is:
Shoot a 150 /165gr SST for plains / bushveld loads and forget about the mono's.
You wil find the SST will give clean ethical kills and the bullet wont break up unless serious bone is hit.
If bone is hit you have to live with slightly more losses yet the bullet/ rifle combination will kill cleanly.
Ja, ja....bla da bla...mono will penetrate and wont break up but this load will work.

I have seen many Blesbuck being shot with PMP and I can promise it is instant lightning.I have also seen Barnes being shot too far back where the animal take of with the heard where a conventional would have stopped the animal right there.

The 7 x57 killed plenty of Elephant based on a few factors, one being a slow bullet.
Considering the bigger picture of this argument the .308 with a short barrel is better of with a bonded and or conventional bullet than a mono.

I have asked several gun shops, and most people say that for a .308 which has a (11,0″ Length of twist Inches).
The best ammunitions are: Barnes 165g/168g TTSX or Hornady GMX 165g.
Please let me know which ones you decide you buy, because i also need to load up some new rounds.

FWIW, I hunt with 165gr GMX in my 1:10 twist 308. I’ve added a recent pic in the bullet performance thread.

The difference in wind drift at 300m is 15cm.
How big is the heart of a normal animal?
    Messor what program is this?
