    Default Shotgun hunting

    Hi,

I would like to find out if anyone walks and stalks with shotgun?
I 'm thinking of using mine for that purpose once the lisence is approved.

Does anyone have advice on best load for that?

What type of animals do you need the load for?

Warthog and Bushpig would be the primary culprits...

Hornady makes an amazing hunting slug, but it's damn expensive. I'm following this thread with interest.

Won't a Sellier and Bellot Rifled Sport Slug work just as well? ~432 grains of lead at ~1,450 FPS?

I've used the S&B and the old penetrator slugs by Swartklip very successfully. Adds a different dimension to the hunt. Punches a hole so to speak. Black powder rifle performance.

I have no idea. However IMHO slugs punch big holes at slow speeds. It's more about grouping than fancy design. Find a brand that groups well out your scatter pipe and it will work well at moderate ranges.

That's why I'm asking - rifled slugs? I'm very inclined to put the RDS I have on my lever gun on my shotgun. With the accuracy I have seen with those rifled slugs it'll turn it into a shotfun.
