    Default Lechwe.

Back in 2011 I spotted three lechwe on the reserve, over the years the numbers grew to 29 counted this year. During the past three years, we have hunted three bulls (rams?). We never introduced them but some farms in the area have them. The reserve lie on both sides of the Gariep river/Vanderkloof dam and they swim well, so fences don't keep them in. Found this male on his own this morning. Also, we had rain

Laohu Valley Reserve, we are a private reserve bordering on Doornkloof on the Northern Cape side and lying across the river/dam from Doornkloof on the Free State side. We charge US $2 500 for a ram.The chaps at Doornkloof would probably shoot them as vermin, because they are not indigenous, I know they do that with waterbuck.

The lechwe looks rather pleased with himself.

Man that's beautiful! Looks a bit like an upper-class flamboyant waterbuck :P
