Is that not their last major battle? Oh really, 6 years ago is a long time? All those troops, officers, special forces, battle tactics etc have now all left the SANDF? 6 years ago is nothing.
And in any case, were they not all dying from AIDS and overweight in the early 2000's already? How did they miraculously improve as a fighting force in 2013?
As stated, they have many problems particularly linked to budget & funding. But to say they're a useless bunch is just lazy braai talk.

Re: Armed Forces Day Parade 2019
Wrt the AK's in the video...
I would like to remind all those gaymurs out there running their Variable power optic equipped and comp'ed AR's in DMG: Real men shoot real guns. And as was demonstrated again this past weekend at the RSC paladin shoot; AK's don't have to be mortared to finish a stage or shot around cover to make headbox shots
Just saying... (tongue firmly in cheek ;)

Re: Armed Forces Day Parade 2019
My impression is that a lot of the problems in the Sandf (Infantry), are as a result of having to take in a large number of Mk "Soldiers" and "Officers". It is also why the structure is so top heavy with Generals, every Mk leader considered himself a Major or higher.
Hopefully as all this chaff retires or dies off the situation will improve.
