Just got an e-mail from SAPO telling me that a 'first notification' for my missing parcel, which arrived in SA on 24 November 2018 was sent out to me on 18 December 2018.
I never got it, nor any subsequent (?) notifications.
Furthermore, the Post Office branch to where it is supposed to have been sent, deny any knowledge of having received the parcel.
Never, ever entrust anything to SAPO.
Tell your supplier that it must be sent by a courier.
SAPO doesn't give a damn about you, your parcel nor has it any concept of 'Customer Service.

The Post Office is a lesson in patience. It does arrive but somewhere between 4 and 6 months later for stuff from overseas.
Customs is a hit and miss - about 50/50 in my experience.

Scotts is crazy with his prices and "I must buy it" rule. I stopped using him about 18 months ago.

For overseas purchases I've gone to Postbox-Courier or Aramex Global shopper

Thanks for all the replies. Clearly I will not push my luck or patience by using their "lack of" service.

The SAPO is a perfect example of why SOE’s can NEVER be turned around once ruined. This is because no matter how competent a CEO you have the unionized workers care more about not working and drawing a salary than getting back to their jobs.

can have a competent general, but if all his officers are brain dead zombies, the battle shall not be won

Yep. My last five orders from Aliexpress either vanished or were RTS after landing in ZA.

My thanks to Simon Lebelo, VIP Enquiries SAPO.
    simon.lebelo@postoffice.co.za
He traced in 4 days my missing parcel which I had been unable to find since November 2018.
All it needed was for him to find the substituted SA Tracking number which nobody at SAPO could [or would not] give to me.
    'Thank You' Simon Lebelo.

Apparently they got their shit together now: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/busin...-problems.html

I wasn't sure if I should post this on one of the numerous SAPO problems threads, or in Joke for the day...

I particularly love the last sentence of the article.

Edit: Just went back to the article to check if it wasn't posted on April 1st. It wasn't.
