    The larger cannons I have seen being shot and owned privately all used round lead balls, smoothed by been tumbled in a concrete mixer with charcoal.
    Finkelstein, I doubt if it will be possible to wear out a front loading black powder cannon barrel...

    Blackpowder burn at over 400 Degrees Celsius. Add to it the corrosive nature of thrsooth and I am pretty sure after a while shooting it, you might have to increase the diameter of your projectile.
