Those bolts are ITAR controlled AFAIK. So even if the importers were notified, which they weren't, they would need US export permits to get the parts in, that doesn't happen overnight and its no fault of theirs.

I wasn't putting the blame on the importer's door, but rather on S&W, who, I gather, have been rather slack in their communication with the guys this side.

I think S&W decided to get the info out asap and that might have happened a bit too fast. Think about the law suits if something bad happened in the time the prepared a information brochure or something like that.

I contacted S&W directly. The response I got was to discuss with my local distributor. They directed me to their website where the nearest distributor listed is not even on the continent.

    A win for geography!

Yeah I imagine their warranty link contains the specific regions where they're actually offering the recall.

I did, however, email (yes, I'm one of those people) two of the local agents roughly a week ago but have as yet not received a response from either. I just don't get around to calling during the day.

A local gunsmith spoke to the guys at MRST and they said they will be getting in a few gauges to check bolts. Not sure of a date.

Gents - if you're so inclined you can request S&W to ship you a gauge directly.

Here's the link for international clients to request a gauge.
