Affordable EDC pistols?

Lets say one has R4000-R6000 to buy an edc pistol with no means of increasing the amount very soon. What does one buy? It would probably be second hand.

I take it you're talking about the Browning Hi-Power when you mention FN Browning? Because I wouldn't recommend it as an EDC pistol, not with the other options available. It's an old design which was not updated like the CZ 75 pistols. The 83 is maybe a bit better, but it being in 9mmS I'm not sure if I'll recommend it. I might be mistaken, but it also has a bit higher recoil than you'd expect because it's a blowback design.

Of the lot, I'd recommend a Gen 2/3 Glock, specifically a 19, if you can find it.

What about girsan mc28? I was in a shop that had it for 6000 if I remember correctly. Or are we only looking for known brands?

The statement of “no means to increase” is flawed and defeatist. To be alive is to have means. I am just referring to that statement. To not be willing to spend more on a pistol is a different story and 100% ok.

Safari and Outdoor have Glock 19 gen 3's on special for R6995. It is a very good option if you can scrape together an extra R1000. If not look for a used Glock. The CZ75 is very good as a home defense gun but not a good EDC pistol compared to more modern pistols. Its big and heavy.

All folks don't earn enough to save R1000 a month. Some have R3000 together after three years of saving. To wait another three years for another R3000 is a waste.
Yet these folks want to edc and be able to protect their loved ones.

Which firearms can I advise these folks to buy?
