Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Hello all
I own a 338 win mag and want fit a suppressor.
I fitted two from numnor and both failed.
Is there anyone out there that has fitted a suppressor successfully to a 338 and had good results?
Much appreciate the input.

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
On our family Barrett MRAD 338 Lapua we use a Ase utra with muzzle brake combo.
Works well, makes it manageable and still going strong

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Morning Messor.
Both times after bout 20 - 30 rounds the bullet began touching the inside of the silencer.
The second time you could see the score marks on the frame of the silencer.
The replaced it once and the excuse I was given was bad machining.
The chap from numenor now doesn't return my calls or mails.

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Normally when it touches the inside then it touches one of the baffles, which either means bad construction or not drilled straight.
Here it cannot be not drilled straight as then it would not only happen after 20 shots, which means bad construction somewhere.
As for a replacement, that all depends on how much money you are willing to spend.
Some guys ask about as much as a new rifle, money I am definitely not willing to spend.
Bottom range but very durable would be something like Silent Hunter.
A bit more expensive would be something like Gunwarrior.
The rest, well the rich forum members can help you there :)

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Hi, our recommended model for .338 Win mag is the SL6i in 9.3 calibre:

Very compact and light weight suppressor for that type of calibre.
Best Regards!

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Thanks very much!
Appreciate the input
I was hoping to pay around R5K if possible.
Wil look at these options and revert when I've made the purchase and give my reasons.
Take Care!

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
I recently bought one from Gun Warrior for my 300WM. Google then and maybe chat to Warren or send me a PM and I could send you his detail. I would certainly recommend their workmanship and after sales service.
Hope you come right!

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
I would not touch Numenor ever again!!!
I like Ase Utra but they are expensive though.
I also use and think the best quality product that is affordable is the Sus-Tac MAGNUM suppressors. Excellent quality and SA made!!

Re: Silencer - Suppressor Recomendations.
Well you've got quite a bit of wiggle room on that budget.
As Messor mentioned if you were on a tighter budget the Silent Hunter's are pretty good. Have one on my .308 and am very happy with it.
I think it was October 2017 issue of SA Hunter Koos Barnard had an article with the test results of 25 different silencers if i recall correctly which detailed, noise reduction, recoil measurement and temperature measurements. Was very interesting.
