    Default Scope Rings Height HELP

I need help in determining what height rings will work best, I intend to mount on 20moa rail, and need to switch between CZ455 Bull Barrel and Rem700 SPS Tactical.

Would medium rings work, or high...........

    Thanks

Take your rifle to the gunshop, with the scope, and try the rings.

I've fitted a 56mm objective scope to a rail with low rings.

Best advice that you can heed. Its easy to make mistakes and then you buy the wrong rings. I did exactly that last week and was lucky to find rings that made the fitting of the scope possible.

I support the advice. There are also other factors to consider for example how large is the ocular lens and will the bolt open without problems.

Also depends on the rail length. I have a full length 20 MOA, and need extra high mounts for the objective to clear the rail.

On the other hand, ring height will also affect your potential maximum distance you can shoot with the scope, which is important if you're going to be doing long and extreme distance shooting. On a hunting rifle, the general rule is "as low as possible".

I have used this calculator in the past and it was very accurate if you put all the information in accurately ,takes a bit of measuring but well worth the effort.
Helps a lot if you need to buy rings online or want a specific hight so that you can order from your local gun shop.

Read the thread "determining cross hair height above bore." I see you are in Somerset West. If you'd like to call me 0825928485 I'll be glad to explain it to you in more detail over coffee.
