Rimfire specific scopes?
Looking at scopes for a .22lr bolt action. I see there are Rimfire specific versions available. How is it different to a regular scope? An example is the Leupold VX freedom range, they have got a standard 3-9x40 as well as a rimfire version. Does it make a difference?

Re: Rimfire specific scopes?
Rimfire scopes parallax normally set at 50yds. Normal rifle scopes with fixed parallax at 100yds. You could have issues at short distances with a scope with parallax set at 100yds.

Re: Rimfire specific scopes?
The parallax free range is set up much closer - center fire rifles are generally set at about 100 m - Yards perhaps even at 150.
The .22 intended scopes are at about 30/40 m

Re: Rimfire specific scopes?
That said all my .22 have other guys discarded 4 power old Lynx and Tasco scopes, I really have no issue - perhaps if I was shooting compo or field mice at 50 m I would notice a problem, but as at now my boy and I have no feeling of needing anything better.

Re: Rimfire specific scopes?
Made the mistake of buying a “normal” 3-9 leupold scope. The reticle doesn’t focus nicely on anything close range.
Ended up replacing it with a Nikon Prostaff Target EFR 3-9x40 Can set the parallax to 10m

Re: Rimfire specific scopes?
Thanks guys. I am considering getting a lynx 2-7 and getting the parallax set at 50. Apparently it is possible.

Why don't you take a look at Hawke optics?
