Default Licensing a rifle that has an old ID Book License

I want to buy a rifle from someone who's rifle still has/had the ID book license. I know there is no problem there but the trick is that the owner has recently lost that ID book, so there is no copy of the license. Can I submit a license application without an copy of the existing license card? What must the current owner do can he get a reprint of the old ID book license?

It is a great deal I am buying but I don't want to have problems getting the rifle on my name, so if this is too complicated a process I will rather buy somewhere else.

Your input will be much appresiated.

That license can apparently be reprinted. Look for the SAP form 273.

Maybe try to get a printout as proof of licensing from the DFO?

Ask the DFO for a printout of the license, submit with that.
I have done it this way in the past.

Maybe the owner has a photocopy somewhere in his archives? Attach it with the printout the DFO should be able to provide and maybe also a sworn affidavit from the owner that he has lost his ID and now is selling the firearm also with these.

The owner has a sworn affadavit from the SAPS dated 2011 where the police aknowledge that the firearm is his and his ID has been stolen and that he has asked a reissue of the licence. He went abroad after that and never receiced the new licence card

I've also previously done it this way, along with the sworn affidavit saying that the ID book is lost

You need to lay a charge against your DFO.
