Competency Testimonial
I have just passed my competency for a S13 FA. I now need to get 2 x testimonials written. 1 from a friend and 1 from a family member.
Here is my predicament.
Im not married. Both my parents have passed and my 2 x siblings live far away and I haven't heard from them in years. (I know it sound like a real sad life but it's really not. I consider my friends my family.)
So how do I then get 2 x testimonials to attest to my character if my family members have not seen me in years?

Re: Competency Testimonial
The dfo might try and tell you that you need a close relative (as with my case, and I gave up my wife as that person, total bs) but this is bs as you only need character ref. Dont fall into this your friends and colleagues are good enough.

Ditto to all above. Get someone you regularly go shooting with. If you don't have family close by, they can't descriminate against you about that.

As a general rule, they have to know you for more than 3 years. If you don't have a close relative available, then just get it from someone related from Adam's (or whatever ancestor) side.
Be sure to include a statement about your substance addiction, your inclination to irrational and agressive behaviour, or rather the lack there off.

You could also get a reference from a longtime neighbour
