    Default Night sights for pistol

    Hi

The old man has a Browning HiPower and we've always used it for target shooting.
I'd like to get him a present for xmas... set of Trijicon night sights.

From the little enquiring I've done, ppl almost always say "it's a hit or miss".
if you're lucky, the sights line up vertically.
    if not, you're screwed.

so, is it possible for a gunsmith to drill holes in the existing sights and insert the tubes?
or modify/customize the new Trijicon's to fit?

    Thx

I do not quite understand the statement?

If the sights are fitted into dovetail slots they will line up.

If the sights are not fitted into dovetail slots then the Gunsmith who takes on the job of fitting the sights has to make very sure it lines up... it is expected from the Gunsmith to fit the sights properly.

To fit tritium tubes to standard sights the gunsmith will have to make sure the holes are exactly spaced and measured, drilled the precise diameter and depth, drill an "airhole" for the Loctite to air and dry and vent excess Loctite and use the correct Loctite (black afaik?). For a start the front sight will need to be wide enough to be drilled to accept the tritium tube.

Sounds like a massive amount of effort.
do any local places import trijicon? surely they could give assurance that it would fit, line up.

    ECM does Trijicon.

The gunsmith who fits the sights will have to give you the assurance you want.
