    Default Mag release technique

I've had a lot of issues with fast mag releases (actually, just mag releases in general) on my 19 Gen 5; problems I've not had with any of my SIG's.

Some better shooters have suggested this technique to me so figured I'd share it for others to review and comment.

I'll be the one that questions it, seeing that it's dependent on the support hand first finger being hooked on the trigger guard...

even I’d agree that 180 degrees would be excessive!
surely one would have to have a most flexible wrist to get there>?!

I dunno in IDPA, but in IPSC you're not always facing the "back end" of the range, you may be 45deg or more off, leaving you little margin to break the 90. Rotating the gun too much may just use up all that margin (I know all about being wary of this, since I both have short thumbs, but shoot my game gun best with the large backstrap installed...)

Of importance is that even the presenter noted a whole list of things that are higher priority to perfect first.

So pulling a gun into your thumb which is already on the bottom. Over engineering for the sake of making a YouTube video imho

But if it works for people then cool

Thanks for Sharing PO. May I suggest skipping to 02:00 for anyone else going to watch it. Personally, I am not impressed/convinced that "THIS" will work for me as an IDPA shooter. I have witnesse faster mag changes where the magazine is in the 09:00 o'clock position without this technique.

But as someone has mentioned,if it helps someone else and they can do it safely, good for them

i have small to medium size hands, yet i dont have to rotate my pistol that far to reach the mag release, even on my full size Colt 45acp.

I see however with this technique it can cause a problem, under stress in a match or in a real life bad situation, you might pull the gun entirely out of your strong hand and onto the ground.
i rather stick with proven principals do not release your grip on your gun.
