Re: Swift A-frame vs Barnes TSX/TTSX, "best " hunting bullet?
So, if price is irrelevant, there is a third bullet that bears mention here. The Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, mentioned by MyLani, is in my opinion the best lead cored hunting bullet out there. My experience with them, as with the Swift, is somewhat limited but I have shot a few large antelope with both. The one problem might be availability.

I believe that you are correct and that leads to another question. Is it worth to reload premium bullets if you are only going to hunt five or ten animals a year? It is exactly this group of hunters, along with ph's, that really need premium bullets most. A hundred rounds of factory ammo by Barnes, Federal or Remington loaded with premium bullets will last for several years worth of hunting.
You could still reload cheap practise ammo, you will probably need to re sight your rifle with your hunting ammo whether you reload or not. I have over the past few years done quite a bit of hunting with factory ammo by Hornady, Barnes, Federal and Remington and all loads were accurate enough for hunting out to 300 meters.

Just checked online, Trophy Bonded bullets seem to be available for reloading.

Yes, but it's not the same thing.
Trophy bonded is their inhouse bullet.
TBBC is made under contract from Speer.

The TBBC component bullet is available from Federal in .375 and larger. It would appear that the Trohy Bonded Tip bullet replaced the Bear Claw in smaller calibers.

Re: Swift A-frame vs Barnes TSX/TTSX, "best " hunting bullet?
No
Take your 300WM
From S&O you can get 20 rounds Federal fusion(bonded) for R750.
Or 20 rounds Federal trophy copper(monolithic) for R710
You will agree you can hunt anything with that.
Still, a reloader will reload, if you do it for practice or target you will do it for hunting.
But to believe reloading is the beginning and end for hunting is a fallacy, you can buy bullets to hunt with each year.
We just lack the market and correct location on the globe.

Re: Swift A-frame vs Barnes TSX/TTSX, "best " hunting bullet?
I like this topic, and started many similar ones like this. A different perspective, I enjoyed chatting about DG hunting with Dr Kevin Robertson, author of the perfect shot. For buffalo specifically, and using the 375 specifically, he preferred the A frame, then the Northfork, and then only the TSX from what he has seen.
