I also found a chap that makes an excellent rockets stove for 500 Rand .( Throwing this here as most people interested in the above also fidget with rocket stoves)

I have one of those works perfect. Just dont expect high pressure hot water. As with any other heat exchanger the slower the water the hotter it will be. Used mine alot when we had water issues in the street and very very low pressure. just fill a bucket with water and dump in a 12v pump and have a nice hot shower

    Thanks KK

    I like this, a lot.

I have been pondering a similar system, but I think that this guy's one is actually better than my idea (which was going to stand on top of the standard cooker hood). I will look him up.

    Cheers

    Now you confuse me KK.

I know you like cold water, just get in a dam, river, stream whatever and have a bath.

I rather sit with a broken down vehicle on a long road trip than drive with a grumpy co-pilot who wanted a hot shower.

Ok then for those not in the knowing, if there is one thing you pack when in the bush for a long time make it a waslap.

You can boil water anywhere and wash yourself with a waslap and bucket any day of the week.

Trust me on this, if you don't have brandy, a wash in the river, in winter, in the karoo, that stuff will KILL you.

It is a mindset. A once off cold shower is not fun but once a routine , you will not go back to a hot shower.
