    Default Silencer for 10/22

I’m looking for advise. I have a 10/22 carbine, the front sight is too close to the end of the barrel to thread the barrel without removing the front sight. Has anyone here, with a 10/22, attached a silencer and how did you go about it. Is it a matter just remove the front sight, thread he barrel and be done with it?

    Hi

I have also a 10/22 and had the same issue installing a silencer without removing the sight - in the end after conferring with the gunsmith we decided to remove the sight and now use the silencer with a red dot.

Thinking if needed a fix sight in the future I could add one

Thanks Sazsim. I have a scope on the gun just was wondering if there was a way to avoid that. Looks like removal is what needs to be done.

Were you able to find a nice small, light, silencer?

    Good afternoon,

I cannot recall where I saw them, but there are slip-on silencers available with a cut-out for the front sight. Perhaps a google search or some of the other members might be able to point you in the right direction

I would not go for small. A smaller silencer would generate more back-pressue and thus blow back more dirt into the barrel, and action.

Most 10/22's run well with subsonics, untill they get dirty. The factory 10-shot rotary mag gives best reliability with subsonics.

Thanks A-R, I did not know that. I have found that the 10 round mag give reliability period. All the other mags don’t

I have found that the BX-25 mags work pretty well with Plated HV ammo, especially if clean and only loaded to 20 rounds. I did modify them slightly.

Ok cool, 20 seems to be the sweet spot with the 32 round mags too.
