Thread: Buying a Rifle

    Default Buying a Rifle

    Hi Guys.

I bought a .375 CZ rifle from a friend that is emigrating,
Going to hand in my application (Sec 15) soon but I see his license expires 20 November 2019, would this have any impact on my application, he is not going to renew as he is leaving the country end of November.

    Thanks

You may have to consider storage at a gun shop or range

This, possibly ASAP because by my calculations he has 13 days left to hand in the renewal before the 90 days are reached. So best get that paperwork sorted ASAP.

Thanks bodhi, even though my application goes in before his 90 days? issue is he wont be able to get his new card as he would realistically be overseas once renewal is done

Rather have him book the gun into dealer stock and pay storage.

Agreed, but be prepared to deal with the SAPS 350 saga.

    This.

The consequences of your license being rejected (not saying it will, but CFR do starnge things) will create a CF of note.

Then he needs to hand in the renewal ASAP. And if he leaves before the licence expires, he's not going to get the renewed licence because he can't collect it. Because of that you won't be able to licence it.

He needs to decide - use it then lose it, pretty much, or sell it now and actually get someone to use it down the line.
