Well you guys must have heard/seen Pieter Malan aka Pietskiet has brought the National Rifle League to South Africa. Many centre fire matches have been hosted where you can compete under the Elite or Hunter section.
The 2019 finale is being held in 2 weeks.

NRL22 has exploded in the USA. Anybody can host a NRL22 match, the same will apply in South Africa. All you need is a target package, all the gongs and stands you will need to host a match. This target package is already available in SA from Gong Wild @ R4500 IIRC.
Then there is a standard list of props, items you can easily buy or manufacture (instructions on the NRL22 website). Bucket, fold up chair, ladder, tank trap etc.

You only need a 100yard shooting range that doesn't limit you to a shooting bench, or a friendly farmer in your area.

Using this target package and standard props the NRL22 in the USA produce a Course of Fire each month witch will be used accross the board. In SA we will use this COF as well (hence distances in yards). This way everybody can compete in the same match all over the world.

See the COF's here for a better idea of what a match entails, simple clear instructions:

Another match will be held in Cape Town soon I beleive. You have to enter on Practiscore, matches posted under NRL Cape Town https://practiscore.com/clubs/nrl_cape_town

If you or your shooting club want to host a match get involved with the NRL guys in your area and contact Pieter.

    Hope this helps

It doesn't have to be a gear race, me and my Fiancé shot the last match with a 25+ year old Nikko Sterling 3-9x40 with a duplex reticle. We used the my approach explained below with holding over high on the further targets in relation to the known gong size and we made comfortable hits at all distances. I suspect the scope shifts zero when I adjust paralax so 1 stage was a loss after adjusting for the mainly further targets so I need to get another scope.

    For strictly NRL22 you need:
    25 yards parallax
8moa elevation to reach 100yards from a 25yard zero if you're going to dial with tactical turrets
    Moa reticle would be nice
10x is more than enough magnification
Hawke have nice options if you want it on a budget

What I am looking at putting on my 22?
    4-16x 44 or 50
10yard parallax for shooting that odd pest animal in the back yard.
1moa hash marks to hold over with

The tacticool approach would be to zero @ 25 and dial for each distance, but in my opinion/limited experience you'll waste too much time, only 2mins per stage, 10rounds, movement, shooting a different distance each shot in some cases.

My approach will be zero @50, hold 1cm low for 25 and 40yards if its a small target like the kyl rack and paper targets bull, hold centre for 50,60 (60 will be a gong so you'll still be on) and then decide to hold over or dial for 75,90,100

Also I would like to practise further so would like 50 moa elevation from my 50yard zero to reach out to 300yard. 20 & 30 moa rails are available for the CZ 455 but this might be difficult on a standard setup.

Thanks Dumbluck. Any restrictions on ammo (i.e. no HV?) I hope not, my rifle only groups properly with HV.

I've had good success out to 100m with a 70m zero. ~1.5" high at 45m, on the thick post at 90m.

That means standard ammunition was just at or above the speed of sound.

If they sold sub sonic at 1080fps, and it was shot on a hot day from a slightly longer barrel, the producing company would have gotten an angry call: "Hey, your subsonics are supersonic!"

    Thus maybe they changed it?

And going through the sound barrier has an effect on accuracy, or not? That could be another reason for keeping speed slightly down.
In JHB the speed of sound is generally about 1090 -1100 fps. I remember shooting Swartklip STD velocity and about half of the box would be sub-sonic.
