    Default Glock specifications

I am not big on hand guns, I enjoy revolvers - never met a pistol that made me want to learn understand it.
A mate and I are stumbling along trying to buy him a Glock ( he has owned and carried a Ruger Red Hawk all his life, yes he is a big fellow).
He now wants a Glock - nothing else but a Glock. What I know about Glock is about as much as I know about cross dressing.
I spoke to some of my peoples and found two Generation 1 Glocks 1 in 10 mm and another in 45 ACP. They selling for 6k each take both for 11 and throw in everything kinda sale. He in the meantime has gone Google education and found Glock 19 for 10 000 odd.
I been dabbling in the looking into this things and see Mod 17/ 19 and Gen 4/5 seem to be the now thing.
I have realized that I do not even know enough to advice the guy.
The generation 1, what you loosing against the gen 4/5 - the gen 1 that I found are they cheap or any good ?. Just gooi your say over to me please.
Caliber is not the question or point of interest.

It will be hard to find Gen1 Glocks in SA, they could well be Gen2 though. Others will give better advise on the Gen1 story.
Good Gen3 guns are sometimes available from R7500.
Lastly why look at a 10mm? Specific need for one?

I don't think that they would be Gen1s. As I recall, that was G17 only (perhaps with very few 19s).

    Not bad prices.

The 20/21 is huge though - like box of cornflakes huge. It is not really a practical carry piece.

If he is looking for a carry gun on a budget, new gen3 19s can be had for R8k or less. No brainer.

He is not on any real budget - 9 months UK 2/3 in RSA, the Pound buys much.
I will look into Gen 1 story, what seller said and as I said I am not informed on Glocks.
