Default Offset Iron sights for AR platform?

    Morning everyone,

I need some help with regards to decent offset Iron sights for the AR platform.

I got some polymer Magpul MBUS pop up Sights, but I have to say that I'm less than impressed to say the least.

What are the options? Where can I get?

    Hope you can help?

Laat weet asb wat werk vir julle en waar ek Kan kry.

    Groete,

    De Wet Erasmus

Rather get an optic that won’t fail you.

    Is it for competition shooting?

Troy makes a decent set of BUIS and offset sights as well. Any local dealer should be able to source them for you.

There is a saying : "Two is one, and one is none"

    Its for general application

Sorry may I ask for more clarification. When you say two is one and one is none, what do you mean with that?

Do you mean two sighting systems on the same rifle is beter than just one? Or what exactly?

Also, general application is very... general. Can you describe more on what you intend to do?

Lastly, pdh is a guru on rifle shooting. He knows what he is talking about so perhaps have another look at his advice.

Unless you are a contractor or operator that is deployed for weeks at a time and need to depend on the rifle, you don’t need back up irons.

If worst comes to worst and your red dot or scope fails in competition then you can just make a plan for the next stage. Buying top quality optics is a way to decrease the chance of this.

If you think you need back up irons for general application, which I assume you mean ‘tactical uses’, you firstly won’t have time to realize your optic is fucked, and secondly the chance of finding yourself in this position with your AR in your hands is pretty slim, and highly unlikely unless you go looking for trouble.

Sure guys run side red dots or irons on their open guns in Ipsc which they use as their 1 power option, which is their choice. But these aren’t meant for ‘back up’

Already have a Vortex PST Scope as a 1st option.

Looking for a workable BUIS solution as a personal preference

If one is none and two is one then you should run 2 Aimpoints.

Don't even waste your time with back up irons - that you aren't going to train with anyway.

If you gonna be tactical - go all the way and git you sum.

the glory of the great dead.
