Re: New kid on the block:
Hi guys,
I've got another question.
I've been trying to get to see the DFO to get the SAPS 517 form and have the opportunity to meet the DFO before even starting the process.
My reasoning was that I didn't want to rock up there with the downloaded form and the DFO might just use this as a reason to be difficult and say I never gave you the form etc. etc.
Has anyone ever experienced an issue with their DFO for using the downloaded form?
And then lastly, I did my training for a handgun and shotgun. Do I need to complete the SAPS 517 form for each or do I just indicate on one form that I want both?

Re: New kid on the block:
Using downloaded forms is absolutely fine. SAPS host the forms for download.

Re: New kid on the block:
So I submitted my documents to SAPS last week Friday. Now I suppose it's the long wait...

Re: New kid on the block:
Did you have to take people with for the interviews?

Re: New kid on the block:
The short answer is no...
The longer answer:
I went to the DFO to get the form and also just to familiarize myself with them.
I mentioned to him that I'd like to come through with the form and the people for the interview and told me it's not necessary I must please just complete a form at the back which it seems they have created themselves with all the details of your references including their contact details and told they will contact them.
I would've preferred to take them with as this should technically assist in speeding up their process, I'm guessing though. But I decided not too as I also don't want to create tension for obvious reasons.
