Some of the best lessons learnt.

And sometimes, especially with kudu, they teach you to forego your hunting experience/knowledge and just sit and enjoy nature for a while.
You do this and sometimes the very thing that eludes your best efforts comes to you.

I think this is what many people like about kudu, they can test your hunting ability in challenging environments, but they can also teach you about life, patience, defeat and reward, and humility.

There is nothing more precious than time with your children. Well done MrTreeman.

When my daughter was 11, we snuck up on a warthog at about 275m. She broke out into a sweat behind the rifle, and then said "No Daddy its too far." One of my proudest moments.

Well done Treeman you have earned my respect. Believe me one day when you are no longer here and looks down from heaven he will remember all the times the two of you walked and stalked together and value this more than the one time he shot his first Kudu.

I want to post nice stories like these, then remember my boy is only 8 months old. Going to be while before he'll carry dad's rifle.

@ Toxxyc. Take your time and practice patience, too many fathers push their sons into hunting too early to massage their own (the father's) ego.

@ Treeman. Respect, for doing it the right way.

Oh for sure. I never really went hunting with my father, he's not really into the scene. I intend on doing it right with my son.

Congrats! Hope both of you enjoy the time together, and that this occasion with be filed away for enjoyment many times over.
