    Default SAPS R5 new look

hi guys any idea whats the new tactical looking fore grip and stocks on some of the SAPS R5s? is this a national upgrade or is it just selected units that have them? also i have heard that SAPS might be adopting the (dashprods), do any of you know if we'll be looking at something new soon?

Some units like national intervention have Fab defence kits on their 5's.

Did someone trying to sell you a dashprod tell you that story?

I would love to know what Government paid for those kits
Cause like anything, there would be one hell of an opportunity for mark up.

Amazing that Denel etc didn't manufacture and supply kits after all that R&D for project african warrior

Not really. The prototypes that I saw were shitty airsofty things, and weren't made by Denel or the CSIR.

    Ah that makes sense

One would've thought they had the capability to get it done at least though

Certainly the capability, but not anywhere close to the right price point.

In real terms it will probably be more cost effective in the long term to replace the guns with a new system.

Question is will it be an order to our Chinese or Russian masters

AK 102 could be a good substitute?

Along with the gonecoat refinishing, within a few K north of the cost of a new italian made AR15 with 2 mags.

To understand it you have to take into account that with the former you dont have to deal with the nasty vagaries of a new barrel and action.

To understand THAT you have to start reading Joseph Heller.
