    welcome!

I read your post on the immigration thread.

I for one am keen to hear about all the nitty gritty details of public land hunting in Australia and NZ.

Ask away mate, happy to help out a fellow hunter

Mind you I'm not too sure about NZ at the moment, there was recently a mass shooting at a mosque so they've been talking about changing the laws there.

Victoria in Australia just requires you to purchase a 2 week non resident license to hunt either deer, ducks, quail or a combination of them and as long as it's in season you're good to go. Mind you to hunt deer with hounds or to hunt ducks you'll need to be accompanied by a resident hunter. Bringing a rifle in can be done but it's tedious, bows fly through as they're not a restricted weapon.

In my state we have 4 species of deer, 7 ducks, 1 quail and plenty of pest shooting (fox, hare, rabbit). Small numbers of goats and pigs also exist in Victoria.

Just had to share this with you. Comes off AHN.

If you use a 275 Rigby you shoot a better class of animal than with the common German 7X57.

The .275 Rigby will no doubt be a nicer/better rifle than most but neither is recommended nowadays
    for ellies! Or tigers.

If it's good enough for Bell and Corbett I can't be in too bad of company!
