Re: Old shotgun ammunition.
I will check out the choke by measuring tonight, I never thought of Google on 16 G barrel "Jees Like!!" I just google searched the whole weapon.
I had forgotten, but the chamber is the long one I did check it on the day of arrival. I cannot tell you which, but it’s the standard longer chamber.
Just got back from measuring choke, left is modified and right is improved.
Chamber 2 and 3/4" chamber.
Not bothering to delete earlier top post.

Re: Old shotgun ammunition.
As Treeman mentioned on another trend.
The loads where 35g loads. Now out of a lighter 16ga a 35g load would rock your world a bit.

Re: Old shotgun ammunition.
As per above answer , I did the measurements and will read up about chokes around midnight tonight.
Thank you for your input, I do not have much interest or passionate moments regarding shotguns and have always just used them. I do not find myself reading up about shotgun velocity and ballistics or mesmerized by the story of how the gun came to be.
Just for interest sake, I always compare things - I was raised on the principle of "nothing can be stated unless it is compared to something that is similar but not the same"
Shotguns are like wrestlers and rifles like boxers - never had much admiration for wrestlers, yet shotguns have always been portrayed as the classy, gentlemanly of the two.

Re: Old shotgun ammunition.
So a 12 G has 23 lb recoilderived from a 1, 1/8 oz. shot load.
A 16 G has 27.6 lb recoilderived from same 1,1/8 shot load, I knew it kicked more than my 12, add norecoil pad and I think this is an accurate chart.
Am I correct in saying that this shot load is almost 500grain same in weight as an elephant type rifle? - fired at half the velocity
