Walther Olympia .22 LR
Howzit All
Nice to join the forum.
Myfather passed away some 4 years ago. During cleanout of old boxes that have been stored since moving home 3 years ago we found his missing firearm.
Ihave attached some photos and the serial number on the gun is 3628. The gun hasobviously been standing for awhile and needs some work done to it. There isalso a South African Weapon Register number stamped on the other side of thegun.
Iwould like to know if it is worth anything and should I go about getting a licence to keep the gun or sell it?Otherwise should I make use of the amnesty and hand it in to the police.
Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Maybe give Classic Arms a call. They will be able to help with value. You will struggle to find parts for this. Should you need. I would have kept it for sentimental reasons.

Unfortunately, the gun has no sentimental value.

This pistol may have value to someone. If it can be transferred to a dealer, I would do that and sell it, rather than handing it in to the police to destroy, or lose, or sell...
Classic arms may be a good place to start.

Re: Walther Olympia .22 LR
Did your father have any type of license card for it?
If not, you could get a printout from the police. Yes, they can be unwilling to do it but with the right attitude and legal reasons one can get much done.
Then, if the license is still valid, you could start the licensing process.
There has been written very much about the latest amnesty etc, please read through the threads.

No licence card. Only had a stamp in his ID book.
I will read up on the amnesty.
