    Default Two section 13 firearms

So I have two section 13 firearms.
One (Sig .40) is on the white card, the other (.38 snubby) is on the green card.
If I don't, they won't renew my competencies.
My DFO has told me I need to either change the sig to a section 15/16 (.38 is not considered a sports firearm) or get rid of the 38.
He says if I give the 38 to SAPS, the process to get it off my name is very long, and best to give it to a gun shop.
    Any advise..?

licence your 38spl under section 15. Your DFO is speaking rubbish about 38spl not being a sports gun. I have a 4" S&W 38 licenced under section 16. in this country, it is ultra important to have a minimum of 2 handguns. Never hand in your gun to saps

Was the different "sections" not introduced when the FCA came into effect, i.e. a green card license is not associated with any section?

    I have a 38 snubby licensed under S15.

Unbelievable that your DFO would say it isn't a sports firearm.

SAPS don't get to decide what is and what is not a sports gun. Go section 16 and your sporting body's endorsement is enough to qualify it as a shorts gun.

To add to what I said. Don't go into your DFO with an attitude. Just tell him that you would like to try license the 38 as a sport gun and would appreciate his assistance in logging out with the cfr as you have an endorsement.
It's amazing how much further a good attitude will get you.

The act (60 of 2000) allows only one gun under S13.

SAPS "system" apparently does not allow more than one license under S13.

Then there is the case of a certain collector who converted his old green licenses to white. He ended up with about 150 (One Hundred and Fifty!) S13 licenses! I think even his howitzer was licensed as S13...

Personally I would change the Sig to Section 15/16. Cause you can still carry it for self defence.

    Juat my personal opinion.

Can one carry a sec 15/16 as an EDC or SD carry?
